Metabolism

 

Generally, naturopathic consults are longer than those experienced with a family doctor, often taking a minimum of ½ an hour. At Metabolism, naturopathic consults are generally a minimum of 1 hour so there is time to listen and talk with you about your signs/symptoms and illness experience. I strive to do this by creating a genuine, trusting relationship with you within an aesthetically pleasing environment. All consultations involve:

​

• investigation into your individual signs/symptoms and illness experience;

• understanding your health profile, such as current and previous health issues, medication history and family health history, in an attempt to find the cause of your illness;

• a written Well-being Plan with mutually agreed upon goals and target health outcomes.

 

At Metabolism, a naturopathic consult may also involve, depending on the consult type and the presenting condition(s):

​

• anthropomorphic assessment via body measurement using a tape measure and/or a Bioelectrical Impedance Scale;

• general health check e.g. blood pressure, pulse rate, lung auscultation, body palpation e.g glands, temperature check, urinary analysis, nail/tongue/iris observation etc.

 

For some conditions, particularly those involving the skin, photographs may also be taken as a tool to monitor progress.

At Metabolism, all information collected and stored is done so according to the Privacy Act 1988 

​

Metabolism is also covered by the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner               and is guided by the Code of Conduct for Unregistered Health Practitioners                as as well as the Australian Natural Therapists Association's Code of Ethics

Testing

Testing can be a valuable tool as it may steer health goals in a more deliberate direction, however it can also be invasive, costly and not provide any new useful information. At Metabolism, I work closely with your GP and other specialists associated with your Well-being Plan to determine which tests may be appropriate. If necessary, I also have access to private testing resources, including hair analysis, at extra cost.

Payment

An invoice will be generated at the end of each consult payable in full by *credit/debit card before leaving the Clinic. The invoice will outline the cost of the consult and any prescriptions taken. Standard consult fees apply however prescriptions vary in cost so total fees may vary from consult to consult depending on the prescriptions taken.
